Gazebos are a very common sight in Bali.
These "Bale's" as they are called locally are often built alongside a pool or in the garden as a retreat
facility. The Bali Gazebos that we produce is a high end product to the smallest
detail, with or without original Balinese carvings. Our gazebos are normally
made from Bankgirai or Coconut wood and covered with thatched roofs
(dried alang-alang grass) or
with Iron wood shingles. Ceramic roof tiles decking is an option.
Each Gazebo is constructed as a knock down system and
is easy to assemble (The 3-D assembly manual will be included with the
supply). Pictures taken during
the pre-assembly process are included as well. Not one nail is used.

CAUTION:
The USA require an ETO certificate when thatch is to be imported. An ETO
certificate can only be obtained by the supplier of the gazebo after
the container has been thoroughly fumigated with
Ethylene Oxide and Methyl Bromide prior to shipment.
One needs to understand that it is a
mistake to assume that a Phytosanitary Certificate is the same as an ETO
Certificate. With a Phytosanitary Certificate only you will not be able to
import thatch, however, each consignment of thatch to be imported into the
USA shall be accompanied by such a certificate which is issued by the
Ministry of Forestry in the country of origin of the thatch.
For mote information about the
import of thatch click on the Thatch button in the left side navigation
area. |

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS OF THE GAZEBOS
The standard Bali Gazebo has a thatched roof from alang-alang
grass. Minimum life time is 8 years (we
do not use grass dried for too short a period as this may reduce the life
time to 3 years).
Alternatively the thatched roofs can be changed into
hardwood tiles or terracotta roof tiles in the color black, red, blue or green.
The standard sized Bali Gazebo can be made form a number
of wood varieties or combinations of timbers in accordance with your preference.
See list of standard units in the table below.
No nails are used. All connections are made by
tongue and groove, stainless steel threaded bars with stainless steel nuts and
washers, stainless steel wood screws and/or wooden dowels.
Please inform us in the
event that a gazebo will be built in a Hurricane prone area (East coast,
part of the West coast, Gulf coast,
Puerto Rico, Hawaii) since we need to reinforce the structure to withstand the high wind forces.
Although almost all Bali Gazebos that are locally produced in Bali are
made from
reasonably priced Coconut wood. The set back is that Coconut wood is not
very durable and as such does not stand the test of time very well whereas
it is susceptible to attacks by white ants. The result can be devastating. The same
holds for any combination with other wood varieties and Coconut wood. In
fact there does not exist one tropical hardwood species from Indonesia which
is 100% termite resistant, however, attacks can be reduced by using Bangkirai, Merbau or Teak.
A satisfying and safe alternative would be to install a termi-mesh system. For more information about termites in the USA
click the "Termites" button in the left side navigation area.
The units come standard with a Polyurethane coating

Gazebos are called "Bale" in
Bali. These "Bales" are attuned to the climate and the culture, economical but
sophisticated in design. These traditional pavilions of Bali
are the result of centuries of experimentation and the blending of the best
of Javanese, Nepalese, Chinese and Indian styles. The "Bale" used as
retreat facility shall not be mistaken with the Bale in its original
form. The "Bale" in its original form is in fact a stately square
twelve-poster building that normally serves as a ceremonial pavilion. The
"Bale" shown on the pictures is a modern development of the last 30 years,
but still based on the order in the Balinese universe which is a three part
division; the roof (the "God's portion"), the mid section (the "human
section") and the base (the "netherworld"). |
